The most commonly asked questions I receive are about great skincare and makeup setting sprays. Look no further! These tried and true products are in my professional kit, as well as my personal arsenal. Let's start with eye cream! If you are over 35, and you want your under eye area to appear firmer, brighter and diminish lines; Drunk Elephant C-Tango Multivitamin Eye Cream, $64 A rich and restorative eye cream featuring a brightening combination of eight peptides, five forms of vitamin C, and cucumber extract for firmer, stronger-looking skin around the eye area. This product is free of gluten, fragrance, essential oil, silicone, and irritants. It is vegan and cruelty-free. Drunk Elephant is a supporter of IEF (International Elephant Foundation) and is cruelty-free. Would you like a workhorse product that helps your blackheads, pores, breakouts, and controls excess oil? Caudalie Vinopure Salicylic Acid Pore Minimizing Serum, $49 Formulated with salicylic acid, this ultra-light gel serum purifies pores, zaps blemishes, and purges excess oil, blackheads, and bacteria. Caudalie’s natural salicylic acid (a BHA, or beta hydroxy acid) is clean, powerful, and oil soluble, which allows it to penetrate pores, targeting the most stubborn pimples caused by bacteria and dead skin. While the salicylic acid works hard to flush out excess oil and clarify clogged pores, rosewater works to your enhance glow and hydrate skin. The formula is further enriched with antioxidant grape seed polyphenols to protect the skin and prevent the oil inside your pores from oxidizing, or turning black, which is essentially a blackhead. A complex of noncomedogenic essential oils provides antiseptic benefits to calm the skin and keep it clear, leaving it smooth and soft. Powerful yet soothing, this serum is safe for sensitive skin and is recommended for combination to oily skin, as well as those with hormonal breakouts. Literally the most popular question is: "Jessi, which setting spray do you love the most?" BEHOLD; Skindinavia - The Makeup Finishing Spray, $29 This clinically-proven makeup finishing spray (also known as a setting spray) applies as a lightweight, breathable fine mist to set liquid and powder makeup and hold it in place for 16+ hours! Skindinavia's makeup setting spray boasts the ultimate extreme long wear set and hold with our patented slow release encapsulation formula that promises a finished look that doesn't compromise. I hope you get out there and try some of these products! NOTE; if you do purchase The Makeup Finishing Spray by Skindinavia, be aware they have an oily skin formula. But unless you have extreme oil production, I would not advise getting it!.The spray above is great for normal to oily skins. Until next time!
Jessi For years I have been dedicated to MAC paint tube and paint pot primers. But after a multitude of artists told me to try the Too Faced Shadow Insurance, I am blown away at how wonderful it works with my oily eyelids. I'm kicking myself for not trying it sooner. It is AMAZING!!! I worked a 12 hour day, I had zero creasing and my shadow was perfectly in place. I also have a couple of stubborn dry patches that it soothed out perfectly. Before you do your makeup, if you aren't already using this product, you should. From Sephora's website: Shadow Insurance locks down eyeshadows, intensifying color to ensure waterproof, crease- , and fade-proof coverage for up to 24 hours. The ultra-lightweight, colorless formula glides effortlessly onto lids, leaving a smooth, even canvas for budge-proof shadow application. Formulated without: Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates. Too Faced - Shadow Insurance, $20 Along with that, I had to try a few foundation types since my Marc Jacobs Genius Gel is being reformulated and is completely sold out. And my concealer, well let's just say I have been through them all it seems. I was just not satisfied. I was poking around Nordstrom and walked around playing with brands. Finally speaking with a beauty rep from Yves Saint Laurent and by playing with their products, I found my new favorites! I have been wearing the Touche Eclat Le Teint - Radiance Awakening Foundation SPF 22. It feels like satin going on and really lightweight. The coverage is gorgeous with a hint of glow, perfect for my skin in the colder winter months. From Sephora's website: Touche Éclat Le Teint Radiance Awakening Foundation is enriched with stimulating Ruscus Extract, an anti-fatigue formula that energizes skin by stimulating micro-circulation and targeting dullness to instantly improve the look your skin’s brightness and luminosity, while the Vitamin E protects against free radicals. Formulated with SPF 22 to provide sun protection, it leaves a weightless finish while offering eight hours of a refreshed, radiant look. Yves Saint Laurent - Touche Éclat Le Teint Radiance Awakening Foundation, $58 For concealer, I have been going between Chanel, Tarte, Nars and Urban Decay. One product is heavy, one was the lightest shade and too dark, one had little coverage, and one oxidized. Low and behold, I love this darn Yves Saint Laurent, All Hours Concealer. It is light feeling with a silky texture that conceals and glides on flawlessly. From Sephora's website: Instantly blur and erase imperfections including dark circles, bags, redness, hyper-pigmentation, broken capillaries, age spots, and discoloration. This advanced 16-hour formula won’t cake, crease, or fade nor will it accentuate the look of fine lines and wrinkles. The highly concentrated, flexible pigments move with you to provide a highly workable and blendable texture that stands up to makeup meltdowns and resists fading, heat, humidity, and touch. The ultra-smooth, creamy matte finish looks just-applied all day. No touch-ups required. Formulated without: Parabens, Sulfates, Phthalates. Yves Saint Laurent - All Hour Concealer, $34 Hope you all are having a wonderful holiday week, and be sure to get those makeup steals and deals on black friday!
Brows: I love finding new brow products! And under $10, who isn't excited!!! My first favorite is: Maybelline Eye Studio Brow Define + Fill Duo, $6.99 This product is wonderful! I love having the versatility of a powder and micro liner in one product. It holds well, the pigment is beautiful! I really live this beauty steal! The second brow product is: NYX Cosmetics Micro Brow Pencil, $9.99 It is another amazing steal! Along with trying myself, I actually put two colors in my kit, to try it out. So far I am happy with the color and wearability. Enjoy this beauty steal! And let me know about your under $10 products. Until next time. <3 Last year, I took fought with a few different brands of tinted moisturizers and BB cremes. I loved the Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm SPF 45 out of all of them, but this year I wanted something different. And, with our cold one week, warm and humid the next week weather, it really has affected my skin and my foundation choices. (Side note: I change my foundation to a tinted moisturizer in the fall/winter because my skin shows more dryness patches and to fight the wind, sun and other free radicals.) So far, I have tried Laura Mercier, Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer against the Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Tinted Moisturizer and the Hourglass Illusion Hyaluronic Skin Tint. To be fair, I only tried the Hourglass on a client, I don't know that I loved it. I really need to try it on my skin. But now I want to try the Dior Hydra Life BB Creme, (hahaha, whoa.... ) there are too many products to choose from. When I go back to Sephora to return the Laura Mercier, I will purchase the caudalie today. Also asking for couple samples from Hourglass, Dior and any other types my Sephora consultant suggestions. I posted the reasons below for the why and why nots. Feel free to ask any questions if you have them! Let's keep this conversation going! 1. Dr. Jart+ Premium Beauty Balm = Best SPF coverage, lightweight, light coverage, but a bit oily faster than I like. 2. Laura Mercier Oil-Free Tinted Moisturizer = SPF smells was very strong, very oily application, then faded into matte. But brought out my lines and got oily pretty quick. 3. Caudalie Vinoperfect Radiance Tinted Moisturizer = lightweight, really light coverage. Blurs imperfections better than previous two products. This battle to be continued.... Even though I still ADORE the following 2 eyeliners listed below in the previous blog! I stumbled upon the Cover Girl Ink It! By Perfect Point Plus, around $5. The colors glide on smoothly without skipping, dragging or pulling. There are bright bold colors, it REALLY lasts all day, it is NOT a liquid liner. And there is minimal smudging. This really is a great stay put product. I even wore the Black Ink & Golden Ink together, with little movement throughout the very humid hot day. I even walked a couple miles to dinner in the heat and high humidity. My entire face was dripping sweat but my makeup stayed put! YAY for great new products! Eyeliner – a cosmetic for the eyelids, usually applied in a thin line close to the lashes to accentuate the eyes. Even though we all know what eyeliner is, there are many ways, and types of liners to purchase. I have had my favorites in the past but now, I have found the holy grail of LIQUID LINERS! That’s right, no smudge, no thick cracks of liner! Smooth, and beautiful for hours! Sephora-Collection Long-Lasting 12HR Wear Eyeliner is my absolute favorite liquid liner. And for only $12, it’s a steal! At Sephora you can get this collection of ultra-pigmented eyeliners to create strong, beautiful lines. It’s very pigmented and there are 12 shades to choose from. Amazing! In a very close second favorite is Kat Von D’s Tattoo Liner, $18. A liquid liner pen that works on the face and body. It comes in 5 shades. It is not as awesomely pigmented as the Sephora liner, but if you are new at liquid liner application. This is the product for you. It turns your nervous fingers into a pro with a few applications! br /> I love using both for different occasions. And the BEST part is they BOTH last for 12 hours. The Sephora Collection liner wore beautifully with nothing on my eyes EXCEPT the liner. No primer, no shadow! It’s such a MUST HAVE product. New Years is right around the corner everyone! And you know you want that makeup to wear fabulously for your all night adventure!!!!! (Excerpts taken from our facebook conversation) Miss Fabulous LV Question: I was wondering if you could recommend a full coverage foundation for my dark circles and blotchy skin like what you used for the photo shoot. I've never looked better than when you did me girl! Thanks in advance, and remember I live in a DRY climate! I need a good covering foundation, nothing really works for me and I will be 59 in two weeks. I need product HELP! FireMakeup: Happy Early Birthday! I have a few products to recommend to you, some from Sephora, and others from your local drug store or Ulta, everyone has different price points, it's easier not to assume. So I will list
SIDENOTE: I have been getting ALOT of compliments for what foundation I use. Every time I walk into MAC, one of the trainer/managers consistently asks what is on my skin. It's the Smashbox Halo Powder, (from the set in #2 listed above). With #4 foundation. The combination looks great on me, even in this Texas humidity. And if I have to get some extra-dew off my skin, I just blot with the nearest CLEAN tissue and apply MAC Blot Pressed Powder in Medium, $24. FINALLY! An Eye Cream I am in LOVE with! Thanks to the ever-so-fabulous help from Allie Towell, (fellow makeup maven and part of the Artist Staff at Sephora), I have been using First Aid Beauty, Dual Repair Eye Cream, $40. Combats anti-oxidative damage. Minimizes wrinkle formation & strengthens the skin barrier. Brightens the skin. Reduces puffiness and under eye circles. And it is amazing kats & kittens! Be sure to run out and get yours now, if you want your skin to LOVE you!! ~ Until next time, Jessi |
